End of Hawaii, Day One - this is the convenience store/gift shop in Kula where we stopped to eat and buy some very nice souvenirs. There was a power outage up on the volcano as we were making our way down. It meant the cash registers couldn't ring up our purchases, but we didn't think much of it until we arrived in the 'upcountry' town of Kula. A restaurant where we wanted to eat was closed in the middle of the day. The shopowner next door said the power had just been restored after several hours, and it would take time for the restaurant to open again. So, we bought sandwiches and drinks from the coolers here and ate at the picnic table outside. It was a beautiful warm day. Next door was this flowering tree. Maybe sister-in-law K will tell me what it is.
