May went out like a lion. After a warm, sunny Saturday, a storm came through, bringing rain, hail, and an immediate drop in temperature. The above photo of my front yard maple tree was taken from just inside my door. Hail was bouncing out of the grass like grasshoppers. Below is a photo of the space between my house and my neighbor's, showing their sidewalk and my grass white with icy pellets. They weren't terribly large (see my hand - and I have a small hand), but they rained down so fast and furiously that streets turned to 'snow'.
